We appreciate that many people have already discovered their own ancestral history, but are unfortunately unable to visit the many places in Scotland where their families lived generation before them.
Look back in time and discover your family history. I will locate and visit your Ancestral Roots, photograph these locations for you and provide you with your own personal Ancestral Experience.
Researching your family tree is a rewarding experience and can produce a fascinating picture of your ancestors' lives and the times in which they lived. A meaningful way to get closer to your ancestors is to actually see and own photographs of where they lived. Photographs are a great addition to any family tree. If the original home does not exist, it can still be interesting to see the locality or your ancestors and the environment in which they lived and worked.
If you know where your ancestor was buried, we can search the relevant cemetery for the grave. If we find evidence of the grave, we can transcribe the information from the headstone and take a digital photograph as a record for you. The local church may also hold inscriptions and records about your ancestor. The information found on the gravestone, plus the possibility of finding other long lost ancestors in neighbouring plots, could provide a valuable source of information that is not available through searching other records.
We undertake site visits to any location in Scotland significant to your own family history, to capture fascinating high quality photographic images for you. This could be of the home where your ancestors lived, the school they attended, the church in which they were married or their gravestone marking where they are buried. We also offer to provide photos of other places of interest, towns, villages, streets, historic buildings within the area and local events.
Our aim is to find and record your Scottish Ancestors and to present your family history to you in a variety of ways including family tree charts, slideshow, website presence, photo album, DVD, using photographic evidence that you and your family will be able to share and treasure for years to come.
If you plan to visit Scotland at some point, I can research hotels/guest houses that may be suitable for you within the area. I can if you wish hire a car that is suitable for your party and provide a chauffeur service to transport you to the sites that are of interest to you, saving you time and expense. We can stop on route for lunch or a picnic. A route map can be arranged in advance once I have the full details of your request.
